I remember watching the move "Meet The Focker's" starring, Robert DeNiro & Ben Stiller. It's the sequel to "Meet The Parents". Meet The Focker's is based on the engaged couple's parents meeting for the first time, which was absolutely hilarious.
Getting your parents together for the first time can be a little nerve wrecking. Not sure if they will click or if they will absolutely hate each other. Needless to say, they will have to meet eventually.
Non-traditionally, it may not matter to the parents or engaged couple's if the meeting takes place.
Some engaged couples parents may live too far apart for the in-person meeting. If that is the case then a phone introduction works just fine. However, with technology you can schedule a Face time or Zoom Conference call to get everyone together all in one place.
At the end of the day, both sets of parents should come together with the spirit of friendship regardless of who makes the first contact. The point of the meeting is to bring the two families together before the two of you say "I Do".
Cheers,
Tamesha
